Veterans Day is a legal holiday dedicated to American Veterans of all wars. Veterans Day 2020, Wednesday, November 11th, pays tribute to all American Veterans, living or deceased, but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
Originally named “Armistice Day” to mark the 11:00 AM ceasefire on November 11, 1918 that ended World War I, was renamed “Veterans Day” by Congress in 1954 following the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War.
On November 11, 1921 an unidentified American Soldier killed in the war was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C,
In the U. S. , an official “wreath-laying” ceremony is held each Veterans Day at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Arlington National Cemetery while parades and other celebrations are held in states around the country.

The AZ East Valley Action Alliance remembers, honors and salutes all our Veterans; so very grateful for their service and sacrifices as we recall, most recently, the battles in the desserts of Iraq and in the mountains of Afghanistan.
